POTTSTOWN PA – The winning, and therefore smiling, members of the Pottsgrove High School Falcons Marching Band head off Saturday (Nov. 14, 2009) to HersheyPark Stadium, 100 W. Hersheypark Dr., Hershey PA, where they will compete in the two-day Cavalcade of Bands Association Inc. Pennsylvania Championships.

The contests begin at 9:15 tomorrow morning and run through 7:30 p.m. Sunday, with an estimated 70 high school marching bands from across the region vying for top honors. In addition to Pottsgrove, marchers from Spring-Ford and Boyertown high schools also will be on the field.

Pottsgrove’s first performance is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The Falcons currently are ranked third in the state among 26 bands in the Cavalcade’s Independence Class. Classes are based on band size.

Pottsgrove finished its marching season recently with six first-place wins and two second-place finishes.

Tickets for the event remain available at a cost of $15 in advance; and at the gate $18, or $15 for students and senior citizens. Band lovers claim it’s a great time, and it couldn’t hurt to have as much maroon-and-white in the seats as possible.
