SANATOGA PA – Members of Brig. Gen. Elmer S. Friedberg American Legion Post 244 of the Pottsgroves will perform firing squad duties at three separate ceremonies next week to commemorate Veterans Day 2009, which officially is observed Wednesday (Nov. 11, 2009).
Seven riflemen from the post, as they have in years past, will fire three volleys in a salute to veterans of all armed services. A bugler will play “Taps.” The public is invited to all three events, post Adjutant Billy Worrell noted.
Ceremonies will be conducted:
- Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park, Manatawny Street, Pottstown PA, by the Pottstown Area Joint Veterans Council. The JVC will name its 2009 “Veteran of the Year” during the event;
- Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Sanatoga Court nursing home, 227 Evergreen Rd., Pottstown PA; and
- Nov. 15 (2009; Sunday) at the new St. Aloysius Cemetery on Buchert Road, Pottstown PA.
