Editor’s note: Montgomery County’s Health Department announced Nov. 5 (2009; Thursday) it had canceled the Nov. 9 and 13 clinics described below due to a shortage of vaccine. They will NOT be held as originally publicized, but may be re-scheduled in the future. Read an update here.
POTTSTOWN PA – Seasonal flu vaccines will be offered free to area residents age 50 and older, and selected others, by the Montgomery County (PA) Health Department during clinics later this month and next in the Greater Pottstown area.
- These events have been added to The Post calendar.
Local clinics are scheduled for:
- Thursday (Oct. 15, 2009) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairview Village Church of Nazarene, West Germantown Pike, Worcester PA;
- Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Central Schwenkfelder Church, Valley Forge Road, Worcester PA;
- Nov. 9, 9:30 until 11:30 a.m., St. Luke’s UCC Church, 200 W. Main St., Trappe PA; and
- Nov. 13, 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., Pottstown Health Center, King Street, Pottstown PA.
Residents will also be able to receive the pneumonia vaccine and the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine in the Trappe and Pottstown sites.
These specific vaccines are intended to protect against so-called regular or season flu, and not against the Novel H1N1 virus or “swine flu”, according to the department. Its two Worcester clinics are drive-throughs only; all residents will be vaccinated in cars only, and no walk-up shots will be given. Residents must bring a driver’s license and Medicare card, if Medicare-eligible.
