Friday, Aug. 7

If you can’t find fun on a farm, where ya’ gonna? The annual fair of the Montgomery County (PA) 4H Clubs will be held Aug. 6-8 at the Penn State Extension offices on Route 113 just south of Skippack PA. Home and agricultural displays and contests of all types, and a great deal of fun, will be found there. For more information, visit the 4H website.

A carnival to benefit the Bechtelsville Recreation Committee and Keystone Fire Company continues Friday and Saturday at the fire company grounds on Paradise Road, Bechtelsville PA. The carnival, which began Wednesday night, runs Friday from 6-11 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. Live entertainment is scheduled both nights. In addition, a flag dedication ceremony in honor of soldiers who have been declared prisoners of war or missing in action will be held Saturday at noon, and firemen’s games and a fund-raising duck race will be held later in the day.

Goschenhoppen Historians revive their 43rd annual Folk Festival Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at a new location, the Henry Antes Plantation on Colonial Road, just off Route 73 near the Frederick Mennonite Community in Frederick PA. The festival’s food, crafts and staged programs give area residents an idea of what authentic Pennsylvania Dutch living is like. Tickets cost $10 for teens and adults, $2 for children ages 6-12, and admission is free for those younger than 6.

Up for a challenge? The Amity Chess Club meets from 7-10 p.m. at St. Paul’s UCC Church, 1312 Old Swede Rd., Douglassville PA, for chess matches and lessons at all ages and skill levels. For more information, call 610-385-6324.

Travis Wetzel and his trio will offer a concert of contemporary bluegrass, rock, gospel, country and jazz on fiddle, mandolin, guitar and bass, at 8 p.m. in the Tri-County Performing Arts Center, 245 E. High St., Pottstown PA. Tickets cost $12 for children, $14 for students and seniors, and $17 for adults, and can be ordered online or by calling 610-970-1199. Club Revive, a teens- only night club featuring mainstream, Baltimore Club, Hip Hop, House, Dance, and Techno music, will open from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at Academy Hall, 1700 Industrial Blvd., Pottstown PA. A $10 admission fee is charged.

The Australian Bee Gees will perform at 8 p.m. in Sunnybrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., Sanatoga PA. Tickets are available now for advance sale at $25, and at the door for $30. For more information, call 484-624-5186.

Saturday, Aug. 8

See how the other half lived, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pottsgrove Manor, the Montgomery County (PA) historic site, 100 W. King St., Pottstown PA, that was the home of Pottstown’s founder. Manor presenter Ruth Potts will demonstrate how Colonial women who were the wives of wealthy and prominent men were expected to be skilled in “finer domestic arts” to entertain their guests. Visitors will be encouraged to join in the upper class diversions for free.

The Boyertown PA Farmers Market will operate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 100 S. Walnut St., Boyertown PA. The market is located in the parking lot of The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, two blocks south of the intersection of Routes 562 and 73. Its farmer-vendors offer a selection of produce, beef, poultry, and baked goods.

Carnival games, food, arts and crafts activities and prizes all are offered as free entertainment as the Kiddie Academy child care and learning center observes its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its new building, 525 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford PA. For more information, call 610-792-4222.

Sunday, Aug. 9

There’s free admission to the annual Old Fiddler’s Picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chester County’s Hibernia Park, 4 miles north of Coatesville PA off Route 82. Admittedly, it’s a 32-mile drive southwest of Sanatoga, but the country and bluegrass music attracts thousands. Did we mention it’s free?

The 24th annual Corvettes For Kids car show and fund-raising will be held shine or rain from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Washington Elementary School, Route 100 north of Boyertown. More than 400 Corvette cars, from moderns to classics, will be on display. Proceeds from the event benefit local residents’ medical needs.

The annual free Summer Concert Series of the Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township Parks and Recreation Board continues at 6 p.m. in the band shell at Sanatoga Park, 200 S. Sanatoga Rd., Sanatoga PA,  with Ernie and Neal, a kids’ band.
