Marking the spot at Anselma.
Demonstrations of flour milling and ice cream-making will be given between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at The Mill At Anselma historic site, 1730 Conestoga Rd., Chester Springs PA. Ad admission fee is charged. For more information, call 610-827-1906.
The Boyertown PA Farmers Market will operate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 100 S. Walnut St. The market is located in the parking lot of The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, two blocks south of the intersection of Routes 562 and 73. Its farmer-vendors offer a selection of produce, beef, poultry, and baked goods. Featured this weekend: an exhibit called “BugFest.”
Rock-and-roll guitarist Rick Derringer will make a special appearance at the Warrior Instruments booth during the Great American Guitar Show, scheduled for July 11 and 12 (2009; Saturday and Sunday) beginning at 10 a.m. in the Valley Forge Convention Center, 1160 First Ave., King of Prussia PA. What’s it take to bake a pie? Goschenhoppen regional historian Nancy Roan will attempt to answer that question at 1 p.m. at the Peter Wentz Farmstead, 2100 Shearer Rd., Worcester PA, in a program titled “The Pennsylvania German Tradition of Pies.” Following her talk, Roan will demonstrate how to make, mark and crimp a pie crust, and let visitors try their hands at it as well. Performers Margaret Almon and Sorina Higgins will be presented by the Mad Poets Society at 7 p.m. in Churchill Artisan Baker and Chocolatier, 137 High St., Pottstown PA. Admission is free.

Learn how bats are nature’s bug zappers in an interactive presentation and video during “Bats In The Night Sky,” part of the Nature of Things program series to be held from 8-9:30 p.m. in Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Rd., Knauertown PA. The Chester County park is located south of Pottstown and 3-1/2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 100 and 23. The program, conducted by Park Ranger Jay Erb, will conclude with a short walk to explore the park’s own bat box. For more information or to register, the park at 610-469-1916.
Sunday, July 12
The open-air producers’ market sponsored by the Pottstown Downtown Foundation runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot located at the corner of Charlotte and High Streets, Pottstown PA. Vendors of home-grown fruits and vegetables, as well as crafters and artisans, are expected to be on hand to sell their wares to the public. Free live entertainment will feature local talent. Naturalist Nick Zurga will demonstrate how to scour the wild to find food, water, shelter, and make fire during a program called “Survivorman,” scheduled from 2-4 p.m. in Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Rd., Knauertown PA. The Chester County park is located south of Pottstown and 3-1/2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 100 and 23. Participants will assist in making a primitive shelter, making a fire using a fire-steel and a bow drill, and making cordage from natural plant fibers. The annual free Summer Concert Series of the Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township Parks and Recreation Board continues at 6 p.m. in the band shell at Sanatoga Park, 200 S. Sanatoga Rd., Sanatoga PA, with the Barbone Street Jazz Band, world-class jazz musicians specializing in jazz and swing of the 1940s and 1950s. Township residents and their guests are invited to bring a beach blanket or chair and enjoy a night of family-friendly entertainment. No reservations required. A free summer concert featuring the O’Bros Band will get under way at 6:30 p.m. in Victory Park, Second Avenue and Arch Street, Royersford PA, sponsored by Phoenixville Federal Band and Trust.

A concert performance by the Pottsgrove Community Band, the musical organization with members from Lower, Upper and West Pottsgrove (PA) townships that this year celebrates its 50th anniversary, is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Sanatoga Court, Evergreen Road, Lower Pottsgrove PA.
