Friday, July 3
The North Coventry (PA) Fire Company Fair runs this year from June 29 through July 4 and the firehouse grounds on PA Route 724. S & S Amusements will provide rides and concessions at the fair for the 44th year. This year there will be approximately 20 rides , including the Gravitron, Cliff Hanger, Go Gator, Musik Express, Zipper, and more. A large menu of food includes hot dogs, hamburgers, kielbasa sandwiches, pork BBQ, pizza, steamed clams, breaded shrimp, and crab cakes and much more. Bingo will be held every night in the social hall and everyday there will be business exhibitors in the firehouse engine room.
Up for a challenge? The Amity Chess Club meets from 7-10 p.m. at St. Paul’s UCC Church, 1312 Old Swede Rd., Douglassville PA, for chess matches and lessons at all ages and skill levels. For more information, call 610-385-6324.
Saturday, July 4
Independence Day parades, fireworks and other activities abound in Pottstown and the surrounding municipalities.
The Boyertown (PA) Farmers Market will operate from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 100 S. Walnut St. The market is located in the parking lot of The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, two blocks south of the intersection of Routes 562 and 73. Its farmer-vendors offer a selection of produce, beef, poultry, and baked goods.
Sunday, July 5
The open-air producers’ market sponsored by the Pottstown Downtown Foundation runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot located at the corner of Charlotte and High Streets, Pottstown PA. Vendors of home-grown fruits and vegetables, as well as crafters and artisans, are expected to be on hand to sell their wares to the public. Free live entertainment will feature local talent. Live entertainment will be offered to shoppers at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, 18 W. Lightcap Rd., Limerick PA, during the Independence Day holiday, according to a schedule currently published on the outlets’ website. The huge retail venue just east of the border line dividing Lower Pottsgrove and Limerick (PA) townships, reported its summer music series would be sponsored by Coca-Cola. Weather-permitting, the outlets will present performers: Hidden Treasure on July 5 (2009; Sunday) from noon to 4 p.m.; and Chelsea Lynn on July 6 (2009; Monday) from 1-4 p.m. both in its Bakers Plaza Court.
Sundaes in the Park, sponsored by the Limerick (PA) Township Parks & Recreation Department, will be held from 6-8 p.m. in Limerick Veteran’s Park. Come out and celebrate the July 4th holiday with a concert by the Montgomery County Concert Band and make your own sundaes!
