SANATOGA PA – Move over, Club Revive: competition’s arrived.
Sunnybrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., on May 22 (2009; Friday) will launch either a companion or a rival – depending on your point of view – to Club Revive, a popular Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township dance event for the under-age-20 crowd. Called Club Fusion, Sunnybrook’s new entry was listed in an e-mail it distributed Thursday (April 30, 2009) at about 6 p.m.
Club Fusion’s debut won’t be a head-to-head showdown. Revive has no plans to operate May 15 or 22, according to a calendar on its website, but scheduled dances for yesterday (Friday, May 1, 2009), and May 8 and 29.
According to its e-mail, Sunnybrook hopes to draw a slightly younger crowd. It bills Club Fusion as “the best hits of today for ages 14-18;” Revive grants entrance to those up to age 19. Fusion’s first dance also is slightly earlier and shorter, from 7-10:30 p.m., compared to Revive’s 8 p.m. to midnight summer hours.
Both charge $10 admission at the door.
Up until mid-March, Revive ran its dances at Sunnybrook. But its operators and Sunnybrook management parted ways after a fight broke out following a dance, and the parties apparently disagreed over crowd control measures. Club Revive subsequently changed venues, and currently is held at Academy Hall, 1700 Industrial Hwy., in the township. It also took its show on the road last month to a location in Allentown, but postponed a similar event in Boothwyn.
Fusion, Sunnybrook’s e-mail promises, will deliver “food, fun and music.” For more information, call 484-624-5186. For Club Revive information, call 610-564-9525.
